Stay 1 – Rio’s ‘must-see’

Day 1Corcovado visit / Santa Teresa and the city center

We will pick you up at your hotel, then you will climb in a little train until the Corcovado’s top (710 metres) is reached. The iconic Christ the Redeemer stands there.

You will be able to enjoy the panoramic view over Rio de Janeiro prior to visiting the historical district of Santa Teresa.

You will discover the treasures of Santa Teresa’s bohemian quarter (its history, its crafts…). You will lunch at a typical restaurant before going to Lapa and the city center.

You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the day.

Day 2Disclosing Tijuca Forest’s secrets / Sugar Loaf

On the second day, we offer you to discover one of the greatest urban forests worldwide. You will be taken to the Tijuca Forest National park where you will be able to discover a diversified fauna and flora as well aslandmark historic and cultural legacy.

You will go through the Tauney castatinha, the Marynk chapel, and from the visitor centre to Bom retiro. According to your preferences, you may discover the 1000 metres high Tijuca Peak within aone hour and half walk. You would enjoy the breathtaking view over Rio de Janeiro ( Maracana, Pedra da Gavea…). A panoramic view over the nature splendor mingled with the town’s greatness in a same megalopolis.

After your lunch, you will reach the Urca district, then go up to the Sugar Loaf’s top where you will be able to admire the exceptional sunset over the Guanabara bay.

Option: On your demand, you can experience the helicopter flight departing from the Sugar Loaf.

Day 3Discovery of a Favela in Rio (optional)

On the third day, we offer you to guide you in one of the biggest favelas in Rio de Janeiro.

Far from the clichés and stereotypes, we therefore propose you to wander in Rocinha favela which we know well enough for having lived several years there.

What’s planned: walking through narrow streets, a breathtaking view over Rio, some historical and political anecdotes, meeting with inhabitants and a huge dose of local life!

It is a good way to plunge intothe multiple ambiances and to know one of the Brazilian society’s pillars…

Day 1Sugar Loaf climbing / Urca district’s discovery

For your first day, we offer you to discover a local attraction far away from touristic points. Indeed, you will climb to the famous Sugar Loaf’s top (396 metres).
You will depart early and begin the ascension by a 30 minutes hike, then a professional climber will guide you to the top. There are diverse paths, each assigned to a certain difficulty level, adapted to beginners and advanced climbers. You can choose your journey in function of your own level.

This activity lasts 6 hours. After having lunch on the Sugar Loaf’s heights, you will be able to admire the marvelous view on the Guanabara Bay. You will then go down by using the cable car.

To end your day, we suggest you to stop by at the Urca Bar and have a drink there.
Located at a few meters from the Sugar Loaf, this bar is particularly valued by Cariocas.

Day 2Rio’s wild beaches visit / Sunset at Ilha Gigoia

On the second day, you will discover Rio’s wild beaches located in the Western zone between Recreio dos Bandeirantes and Guaratiba. These beaches are well known by surfers who flee from the tumult of the Copacabana and Ipanema famed beaches.

We will take you to the Perigoso beach which is only accessible by a 1 hour hike. According to your preferences, we can lunch in a fisherman’s small restaurant.

At the end of the day, we will admire the sunset from the Gigoia island, in the Barra da Tijuca district. No doubt you will enjoy the quietness of the place.

Scenery change guaranteed for nature lovers!

Day 3Hike in Pedra da Gavea

We will begin our ascension at 8 am. It will require about 3 hours to climb until the Pedra da Gavea’s top, culminating at 800 metres. It is one of the world’s highest oceanfront granite peak. You can easily recognize its particular outline from the Leblon beach. This is a hard hike which requires a good physical state. There is a particularly uneven path at the end of the route and it is necessary to climb the wall for a few meters. No experience in climbing is required. However, people subject to vertigo can find themselves in a delicate situation. To do so, a professional climber will guide you with the material necessary to assure your safety.

From the summit, the view offered to you is wonderful. Simply the best view in Rio! You will be able to scrutinize the city and realize how much beautiful and immense it is.

On the way back you’ll resource yourself at a natural waterfall before going back to your hotel.

Day 4Paragliding flight. / Hike to Dois Irmaos / Favelada Rocinha

For the last programmed day, several options are available.

If you wish, you can experience a paragliding or hang-glidingflight. You will be driven to Pedra Bonita by car. From there you will fly awa for Sao Conrado beach.

You may also chose to go hiking until the Dois irmao’s top. This mountain, which is visible from Ipanema beach, separates Leblon from Sao Conrado. By passing through the small Vidigal favela, you will reach the summit afer a 1h30 long hike.

During the afternoon after lunch, we will guide you in one of the biggest favelas in Rio. Far from stereotypes and clichés, we offer you to walk in the Rocinha favela, which we know well enough for having resided there.

What’s planned: walking through narrow streets, a breathtaking view over Rio, some historical and political anecdotes, meeting with inhabitants and a huge dose of local life!

It is a good way to dive into those multiple ambiances and to know one of the Brazilian society’s micro culture.
