I discovered my favourite area Santa Teresa during my first trip to Brazil. This district feels like a small village where it is pleasant to go for a stroll.
With it beautiful and impressive colonial houses, paved narrow little streets, rich of vegetation there is a “bobo” atmosphere. In the old days, Santa Teresa used to be inhabited by the rich cariocas and built around the convent. Nowadays, this touristic area attracts numbers of foreigners and artists for its tranquility and charm.
Its famous and characteristic yellow tram was built in 1872.
I am suggesting you a long walk through the area, passing by traditional craft shops, have a drink or lunch in a typical restaurant, visit the Chacara do Ceu Museum , visit some locals artists atelier, and then bring you to one of the best spots which provides you with an amazing view and. We will finish discovering of the famous Lapa archs.
