Vale do café is the name given to a group of15 municipalities located 120 km from Rio de Janeiro. In the 1860’s, those villages were producing 75% of the coffee globally consumed and used to guarantee to Brazil the worldwide leadership in coffee production and exportation. Today,some fazendas are open to the public.
Indeed, some small landlords initiated to develop a sustainable and solidary tourism in order to maintain their historical heritage. I invite you to discover this great historical, cultural and culinary legacy!
